This ‘how to’ video gives steps — but perhaps not all the answers — to join the DAO. I think of it as a trigger for an adventure, a starting point to interact with the blockchain in your own way. The mouse hesitates, the questions are left open, the video is not always sleek, but that is also partly the point: it is an adventure that is multiple. I can only speak for my own experience; it is at once critical and playful. But what about others?
** 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐚 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐜𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐬 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬: 𝐥𝐞𝐞 𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐪𝐮í. **
After dancing, feeling, coding, writing, questioning and experimenting for the artwork My Feeling of Dance and Code Is…, I started a DAO, a Decentralized Autonomous Organization, a space to collectively share funds and decision making that uses the blockchain as a form of trust, which means all transactions, funds and materials are encoded, voted on and shared by members through algorithms.
This proposed DAO, which you have the steps to become a member of in this very video, is titled, Soft Bodies & Hard-Colorful Angelfish, where soft bodies are the ones asking questions and hard-colorful angelfish is the name of what appears to be a large mining farm in the Ethereum blockchain that mined more than one of the tokens created to make this artwork: somewhere in between softness and the hardness of codes, bodies feel. But more than that, they move. The subtitle, or tagline, or play on words, of the DAO is A Score(ing) Manifiesto for Moving in Chains. Movement — between body and code — is paying attention in between executing times. I can’t fully explain this link between movement and code yet, I am still adventuring with it, but it is something that matters in the way that codes execute, paying attention to the present and to the other, both human and non-human. It may not be a radical change to the system, but a tool that I have to move thought daily. The idea of this DAO is to question this together, with a multiplicity of bodies, or perhaps to think of other ways too.
The DAO is a space to experiment, to propose imaginative, humorous, playful, complicated, critical, (im)possible, felt ideas to rethink relationships between bodies, codes, movement and web3 applications. Proposals can be made and voted on, funds can be given and rewarded to experiment with these proposals, the future can be decided together, anonymously if you wish, but as humans mingling with the non-human layers of executed codes that can also, eventually, be re-written too. In the end, the DAO emerges with us and through us, an experiment, an experience, a space to question and try out (im)possible solutions.

Whatever you feel, whatever your energy level is, if you wish to try it out, or just watch/scroll and question from afar, all of this is what counts anyway. I am not an expert but a feeler, and I can’t help but keep moving and processing and paying attention along the way.
